Dar El Bacha Museum of Confluences, Marrakech: opening hours, ticket prices and tips for the Glaoui palace turned national museum.
Dar El Bacha is a palace on Route Dar El Bacha, in the north-west of the medina. Since 2017 it has been the Museum of Confluences, run by the Fondation nationale des musées.
Thami El Glaoui, pasha of Marrakech, had it built around 1910 to receive and impress his guests. It was restored by the foundation and opened as a museum on 9 July 2017.
Look at the central courtyard and its garden in four parts, with a salon on each side, and at the zellige, carved cedar and carved plaster. Exhibitions show Moroccan decorative arts and everyday objects: ceramics, textiles, jewellery, manuscripts.
The coffee house inside draws a long queue from opening, which slows the entrance. The palace itself is calm once you are through.
